Litti chokha : The pride of Patliputra


There are many jewels to  Patliputra but the Rustic essence of  Litti - Chokha  add the golden feather of the pride on its hat of delicacy .
Perfect dough balls stuffed with sattu mixed with herbs & spices (Northern mango/ chilli pickle)  roasted until cooked over coals , charcoals or cow dung is known as Litti which is very often confused with very closely related to baati . Litti dripped in desi ghee is perfect desi blend of flavour & crunchiness with a homely & pleasant taste teamed up with baingan , aaloo & Tamatar roasted chokha with squeezed lemon & garnished chopped onions on it .  
Of course , Litti chokha is healthy good food to eat because it doesn't have too much added cooking oil . Pure desi ghee comes with it's own set of health benefits  but you can avoid desi ghee dripping as it has lots of calories.

Litti chokha which is originated from the region of Awadh (Patliputra) is popular to all over India and can be found on cart as well in a fine dine-restaurants with a very affordable price and can be made at home with average cooking hour of 1 .
Interesting Fact about litti chokha is that it played an important role in the War of Independence of 1857. Many including Tantia Tope &  Rani Lakshmibai made it their travel meal as it need less water and could be baked without any utensils and can be kept for as long as 2-3 days .
